Baseball/Softball season is coming!

The temperatures will soon be rising and we will start to enjoy playing America’s sport.  Proper cleats are crucial.  Cleats generally are not very good in terms of arch support.  It is often recommended to buy  over-the-counter arch supports or consider custom made orthotics.  At East Avenue Podiatry, we carry a very high quality over-the-counter arch support which comes in different sizes.  We also take plaster molds of many of our patient’s feet for the custom-made orthotics.

I would also recommend that people start off slowly with the cleats.  They should walk around in their yard or at a field with the cleats before running with them.  Poorly fitting cleats will often cause blisters and painful pressure spots.  When the cleats are new, these problems can exist even if they fit properly, until the leather softens up.

So don’t let your feet get in the way of becoming the next Derek Jeter or just enjoying the beautiful weather playing the sport you love.
